"The band came about in around 2003 with a friend of mine Mandie Barnett who I used to be in an originals band called Edison with. She asked if I fancied doing a covers band. She had been talking to a bass player (Clive H Jones) and we pulled in Simon Hudson on drums as I was working with him at Cookes Band Instruments at the time. We giggled in the pubs around Yarmouth and Norwich and I remember we did a couple of gigs at RAF Coltishall. Mandie then left to go and live in London and we carried on playing with Sam Skipper who I had been in a band with in the nineties called Retro. I can’t remember how long the band went for but in total think it was a couple of years before we split. I then went onto form a rock covers band Live N Loud with the Clive, I'm not sure what the other guys did. The name Bird came about because Mandie had a t shirt on at rehearsal which had the word “bird” on it. So we went with that!" NG 22/04/2020
