Recalled in the LJ in late 1963 as forming at the St Peters Church YC, Carlton Colville. Woodgate elaborates, “I wasn’t in the original group that rehearsed there, that was just a fun band. Mo Brown was part of that group and we were at school together. He knew I played in the school orchestra and asked me to join, that’s when we christened ourselves The Blue Streaks.”

Among the original members in the fun band was Gerry Ellis, who went on to form The Morrells. Influenced by the burgeoning R&B scene the group soon became The Road Runners.
