The bands main protagonists were Kiwi imports Dave Dover-master and John Calaghan. In their native country they had played as part of the semi-pro outfit The Purple Hearts. Finding engagements there hard to find and poorly paid. The trio moved to London in February 1967 were they found the scene just as over crowded and hard to get onto, another move to Manchester saw the band fare no better at this point Dave Bufton returned to New Zealand after a long illness. The remaining two settled in Norwich in March 1968 taking up jobs of a Plasterer & Baker.

Advertising for musicians in the local press they attracted UEA students Roy Taylor & Pete Halls two graduates who were at a low musical ebb after their campus group Packet Of Six had wained. The Bumbly Hum played their first gig in Norwich for the Oxfam charity at an outdoor gig in Eaton park in July 1968.

Knickers: The people of Norwich took to the group who developed a penchant for de-briefing young enthusiastic ladies pre performance and then stapled the fruits of their plunder to the sides of the stage apparently the girls would que for this pleasure and then que again outside the dressing room after the gig to claim the garments back.

The group were often mis-printed in the newspapers as Bubbly Hum and were affectionatly known as The Bumblies to their fanbase. The band changed line-up a few times with a double change in February 1969 when Tomlich and Painter replaced Halls and Taylor respectively.

In February 1970 The band team up with ex Animal, Danny McCulloch. They back him on the Pye release [title required] and change their name to Danny McCulloch and the Seige
