"Hoi Polloi was formed in 1987, Paul and Sallyanne Francis were the main members throughout the life of the band which finally ended in 1996. The band played in venues around the East Anglian area for almost ten years with only a one year hiatus to re-group (1992). Due to the insane costs of recording a band in the late 80s early 90s only a number of studio recordings were made, all survive to this day, there are also some live recordings from 1994 which also survive.

"Hoi Polloi, where from Norwich and were a rock band who played their own material with a few covers, they had several changes to the line up over the years,  but from 1989 – 1991 it was ....Sally Ann Francis ... vocals, Paul Francis ... drums, Alan ?  (Captain tremolo) ... lead guitar, Andy Gard ... guitar, Kevin Rope ... bass. Previous to this Brendan Youngs was on guitar, I lost touch with them after 91 but know they carried on for a few years with a new line up always with Sally Ann and Paul who I believe started the band with Brendan around 1987-88.
