"Llamados  R?L, R2L, RiiL. Officially the correct form was Llamados RiiL. Formed in 1987 in Bury St Edmunds, Llamados RiiL's personnel came from four musicians already well known in the local area. Wayne 'Bonkka' Bailey (Bass). Dave Groom/Martell (vocals). Lee 'Trill' Branwhite (Guitar) & Tel Brown (Drums). All very experienced. Previously with Powerdrive, Forced Entry, The Lemons and Hellrazer. Llamados RiiL gigged relentlessly all over East Anglia and beyond. They played with aggressive tempo with extensive use of two bass drums. Complex single scale riffs over distorted bass lines and snarling vocals. They had a humorous side too with Madonna & Tom Jones songs getting the Anthrax meets Venom treatment. It is hard to explain why Llamados RiiL didn't become more successful. They were a popular live act with a good following which gained rave reviews in the music press for their performances. Under their manager Phil Reynolds representing 'Rip Roar Promotions' Llamados RiiL indeed got themselves some plum support slots that other bands would have killed for. Little Angels, Wolfsbane and even Budgie on the Radio Caroline Rockshow, just to name a few.  After three years relentless gigging the tide was turning in the music world and Grunge was the next big thing. It was time to make way for the new blood who at that time were 'Jacobs Mouse'.  Llamados RiiL's farewell show was 2 sold out nights at Horringer village hall on October 27th & 28th 1989 with Norwich band and good friends 'Deviant' in support. If you would like to listen to Llamados RiiL in their prime then the 1989 vinyl album 'UK Thrash Assault' on the C.M.F.T. Productions label  is a good place to start." LB19/05/2023
