I expect anyone viewing this will be 'highly impressed' with the appearance of the amplifiers and speakers. Most of these were home built by the Collier brothers' dad in his workshop. To say they were not very powerful would be an understatement but we got by with them for many local gigs - we couldn't afford anything much in those days! I remember we even used these at The Links Pavilion at West Runton on our first slot when we were the support band. The main attraction, whose name escapes me, let us plug into their equipment on the second set so things went rather better that time. The twin speaker Selmer in the middle was, if my memory serves me correctly, about the only branded amp on the stage and that was borrowed for the gig from another Michael, Mike Powley aka "Nimbus" who was with the band from time to time. Where are they now? As I recall a young David Jones was killed in a car accident, Reggie passed on many years ago and sadly Mike Kingsley too in the last 12 months or so. I have no idea about Michael Harvey but I do bump into Ray Collier from time to time. He still lives in Dereham. Mike Powley is not in good health and is living in a care home. I will have to check if Ray Collier can find any more photos or has any memories he may wish to share. Apologies for the fossilised fly on the photo, by the way! [source: Mick Doy August 2015]
