All members were pupils of CNS School, Norwich and made their debut in early 1981 at a school open evening. Few dates for the band appear after this. According to Phillips "I seem to remember that two members left Obstruction just before they were due to play a gig at the function room behind St George's church on Sprowston Road, which was 10th March 1981 according to my gig list. Consequently, and as we knew them at CNS, myself and Melvyn White were drafted in at the last minute, and the McGhee brothers decided to change the name to Breakout for the gig! Breakout broke up in early July I believe."
