Group started at The Melancholy Angels

"My brother Nick and l decided to form a pop group to entertain locally. Nick on lead, myself on drums. We pulled in Peter Talbot on rhythm and Mick Leek from Pink Gin on bass. We could all provide vocals, so four part harmonies were there especially on numbers like Sugar Baby Love by the Rubetts etc. We cut our teeth so to speak, in places like the Chev Club, First Floor club, village halls and pubs. After a couple of years the band came to an end. Paul Glazebrook approached my brother and l to form The Clique as a 3 piece. Another chapter. The name came from the road signs that were put up in some suburban towns where coal fires were banned due to the smog we used to produce up to the late '60s . Hopefully somebody out there will remember us!?" PP 31/01/2021
