The band originally called themselves Force 5 but then became aware of another band of the same name and became Sounds Force Five. Listed as late entrants to the Norwich Mercury beat contest. The group played in the final qualifying round on the 8th June 1965 at The Gala Ballroom, Norwich. They were also the band that travelled the furthest distance to take part in the contest.
