This group were a product of Yarmouth Grammar School and a majority of the group had previously existed as The Dagmar Gitelles until becoming The Spex in September 1964 - a name derived from the fact that three of the band wore spectacles. They were managed by Colin Tennant another ex Grammar school pupil. The group appeared in the opening round of The Norwich Murcury Series, Great Beat Competition at The Garibaldi, Great Yarmouth on the 10th May 1965 but did not make the final eight.
