Alfie Hall lived next to Collins Garage in Wells when he met up with the owners son Harry. Together they rehearsed, Alfie improvised using his radio as an amplifier. Alun Davies soon became involved and brought with him his Watkins Rapier and became the envy of the group

 

Harrys mother would chauffer the band around in her Mk1 Zodiac. The Band had started as The Twilights in late 1960 and moved through a period as The Argonauts with Nigel Able on vocals before becoming The Triffids in [month required] 1963

 

The group featured in round three of Norwich’s big Mercury beat contest and played at the Olympia, Cromer on the 17th of May 1965 a round that was eventually won by overall winners Barry Lee & the Planets

 

Harry left to join Raynham band The New Verdicts who later developed into Spencers People and reunited Harry and Alfie
