Jem Bailey "Jon threatened to kill me when I left the Painkillers, bullied me in to singing with the Slimetones (only cos Dominic left) Then rebranded it as the new Sex Pilots and sacked me for being 'a hairdresser') only to demand I rejoined when he found out Dieter wasn't available. Unreasonable, bad tempered, appalling when drunk, erudite, kind and hilarious when on good form, competed at national level for the British control line model plane championships and able to discuss military history and surrealist art all night. He was also, as you probably well know, a member of the territorial army and a parliamentary candidate. Also a complete one off as a songwriter and guitarist. What was not to love? Another candidate for the roll of honour."
