"Originally formed in 1984 after the demise of Ranata Spirit by myself (bass) and Mark Richards (guitar), we recruited David Herring on drums, and although we rehearsed a lot by February 1985 we disbanded without ever performing live. Then in 1989 I formed a new version of the band with myself (guitar), Ian Futter (vocals), Dave Sparrow (drums) Paul 'Wil' Redden (bass) and Leigh Storey (keyboards). We performed numerous gigs around Norfolk and built up a small following, then released a six-track cassette EP titled 'First Impressions' on the Gnome label. I left the band during July 1991 to concentrate on working with Gods Acre and I was replaced by Steve Holmes. The band went on to record a four track cassette EP titled 'Swimming Against The Tide' but then split up shortly afterwards. In 2017 The Ire reformed with myself (guitar), Ian Futter (vocals), Dave Sparrow (drums) and Luke Ready (bass), during which time we wrote new material which we performed for a gig at B2 during August 2018. Rehearsals continued until late 2019 before the band ground to a halt and called it a day for a final time. As a final note, I see you have Daniel Storey listed as a member - as far as I know he has never been a member of any version of The Ire." CP 29/09/2020
