The Toads claim to be Norwich's first Punk band. They made their debut at a private party at the Kingsways Caves, The Kingsway Public House (now demolished) on the 22nd April 1977. Guitarist David Viner notes, "We only managed to play a couple of songs before it was all stopped by the landlady who said she hadn't realised it was a punk gig

The band played their last gig at Peoples Night Club, Norwich on 6th December 1977 with The Right Hand Lovers featuring Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse as the support band

 

EEN: Paul Stranger leaves The Toads in Oct 77. the band go out as a trio with Dave Toad on bass taking on the main vocal role.
