Last updated: 26-09-2022

Lead Vocals, Guitar: Peter Bond

Keys: Vic Stone

Vocals, Bass: Gary Wilton

Drums: John Jimmy Jewell (2)John Frenchie French (3)Paul Meek

The band was formed when Bond and Stone left local cover band Reporter to team up with ex-Mungo Jerry and Boy Bastin drummer John Jimmy Jewel. Gary Wilton left renowned Norwich circuit band System to complete the line-up on bass and backing vocals. John Frenchie French replaced Jimmy Jewel on drums later that summer. Bond's quirky and original New Wave-Pop songwriting style caught the attention of Steve Harley, who chose to produce the band at Morgan Studios in London. A UK support tour with Harley and Cockney Rebel followed, as did a number of prestigious London circuit dates, including support gigs with; Simple Minds, The Passions, The Revillos, The Look, and Tenpole Tudor. There was a further change of drummer with Paul Meek coming in to replace Frenchie during the summer of 1981. The band re-located to Germany in September 1982, and was briefly produced by Tony Monn in Munich. Zilch disband in May 1984, when Bond and Wilton reconciled with Frenchie, who joined them to continue other musical projects in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. GW 26/09/2022
