The final lineup of The Tykes became The Muffin Bd in mid-1968. One of the last changes of The Tykes era saw lead vocalist Bignall take on the role of bassist to stem the tide of players passing through. Mitchell said, “When I joined The Tykes, we had two guitarists. John moved onto keys, and that gave us the soul sound of the day, and we thought The Muffin Band suited our new style too. I think Barnes then left, and another guitarist joined. It got a bit heavier, and the booking agent became less interested. The work then slowed up. I’m not sure how long we lasted. I recall being in a group called Pendulum before the end of the decade.”
