The groups fortunes appeared to be on the up when they won the opening round of the Norwich Mercury beat contest at The Garibaldi on 10th May 1965 beating strong contenders Johns Court and the area’s highly popular Millionaires. The band went on to play the finals held at the Norfolk Showground on 1st July 1965 and were placed a very respectable third overall on the day and getting £80 prize money

The band folded in late 1965 with Dave Smith-Howell forming the Alex Wilson Sect & Graham Baynes teaming up with ex Sapphires to form the Acle based GKB Four
