1992/93 Basti - Paul Thompson (Vocals/Samples), Ian MacGregor (Drums), Steve Appleton (Guitar), Mark Wernham (Bass) As a four-piece, the band moved towards a smoother and friendlier sound and toured mainly supporting MeatBeat Manifesto. 1989/94 Delta Radio - David Clark (Drums), Steve Appleton (Vocals/Guitar) An experimental rock project very much pushing the boundaries of acceptability, playing mostly in Norfolk and featured on several local compilation albums. This is the band where I really learned to play the guitar and to sing. 1993/94 Moonboys - Mark Howe (Guitar), Steve Appleton (Vocals/Guitar) Project producing extremely ‘left-field’ versions of classic pop songs. We played a few gigs, most notably to an audience of ‘Free-Jazzers’ including the great John Stevens who told the rest of the audience off for not paying attention to the music. He also said that he loved our version of Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’. 1998/2001 The Brass Monkeys - Ben Higham (Tuba), Simon Youngman (Saxophone), Laurie A’Court (Saxophone), Trevor Rowland (Saxophone), Steve Appleton (Vocals/Guitar) This is the original five piece that performed locally and released the album 'Passion [1]' on 33 Records 1998 Glisten - Kazumi Kato (Vocals), Paul Thompson (Vocals/Programming), Mark Wernham (Bass), Steve Appleton (Guitar) A writing/recording project producing mature pop songs. 2001 Wawasan - Katrina Zawawi (Vocals), Owen Watkins (Guitar), David Clark (Drums), Steve Appleton (Bass) A project highlighting the singer Katrina Zawawi 2004/05 The Young Britains - Pete Warsop (Vocals), David Clark (Drums), Paul Thompson (Keyboards), Ian Brownlie (Bass), Jamie Horne (Guitar), Steve Appleton (Guitar) A rock band performing around Norwich and who released a self-published CD 2005 Delia - Georgina Kuna (Vocals/Guitar), Ian Brownlie (Guitar), Steve Appleton (Bass/Guitar/accordion/percussion) An ‘art/folk/experimental’ trio. 2006/14 The Improvement - David Clark (Drums), Jamie Horne (Bass), Steve Appleton (Vocals/Guitar) A rock band who played locally on the pub circuit and released three self-published albums 2007 Paul, Mark and Steve - Roisin Whyte (Vocals) Paul Thompson (Programming), Mark Wernham (Bass), Steve Appleton (Guitar) A ‘project’ band producing a number of pop tracks with a variety of guest vocalists 2010 ASTR - Pete Kitson (Drums), Ian Brownlie (Vocals/Guitar), Steve Appleton (Bass) A vaguely politically motivated rock band who played a number of events and made several experimental videos 2012 Vandiands - Viv Allen (Bass), Ian Brownlie (Drums), Steve Appleton (Guitar) A learning/experimental project - all rehearsals where filmed and and released to youtube 2018/present Steve Appleton Since 2018 I’ve constantly been creating work under my own name, performing at events/exhibition launches and so far producing 94 albums - the recording of all of them can be seen on my youtube channel - all of which have been collected by the British Library.
