Personnel departures from the Ely Signets in late 1966 saw the band join the remains of The Shift and change their name to Time Being. Bass player Murphy explains, “When our band The Shift split on New Years Eve 1966 Colin and i joined up with David." Beales adds "We also took on a keyboard player called Kim and did our first gig in February 1967 at The Racehorse PH, Cambridge.” This line-up lasted less than a year before evolving again. Beale recalls “Kim left in August 1967 and was replaced by guitarist Chris Devine, and we changed our name again, this time to Tweedies Cage." Devine had also previosly been in The Shift with Lockwood and Murphy.
