Previously performing as The Tornadoes the band made their change to The Wildcats after the release of Telstar by Joe Meek's, Tornadoes. Ex Tornado, Tony Wright had left to pursue a career in the forces leaving Tony Chamberlin to take the vacant throne. While the demise of the Alysham’s Teenbeats Trio saw Tornadoes guitarist Roger Reynolds move over to bass making way for Teenbeat, Tony Dyball to come in on guitar after his brief spell with the Norwich based Starbeats

The band lasted only a handful of gigs before Tony, Roger & John formed The Planets

In 1977 John Jarvis resurrected The Wildcats with new line-up
